Snetterton BSB test

Team delighted after strong performance

Binch racing headed over to Snetterton this week for the first official British Superbike test. Action got underway early on Wednesday morning in what turned out to be the best of the weather for the scheduled two day shake down. Right from the get go Zak set a very strong pace lap after lap. The Superstock 600 class shared the track with the GP2 class and Ducati Tri-options which made all the sessions action packed. In all three sessions Zak was the quickest stock 600cc setting a blistering pace on his new Yamaha R6. ‘Lola’ has been expertly built and prepared at race HQ by Dave Rymell and the lap times suggest all the hours of graft have paid off. The pandemic has been a challenge for every racer and every team so to have such a strong machine in this early stage makes all those Zoom meetings worthwhile. The team decided to depart Snetterton on Thursday morning with little chance of any worthwhile track activity due to inclement weather. Nevertheless, there was a buzz in the camp and lots of positive energy to carry forward to Oulton Park on May 19th. Zak Corderoy commented : “Great first official test with the Binch boys. I loved every second riding the new Yamaha R6. I cannot thank the team enough for building such a nice bike, not only visually put it is superb to ride. To top the time sheets by 1.6 secs is a great start but we must recognise it is still very early days. We go to Oulton Park next and we are really looking forward to that, it is a circuit I really like riding. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my sponsors for making this year happen for me. I really appreciate everything everyone has done for me.” Dave Binch – Binch Racing Project Manager commented : “A tremendous start to our 2021 test campaign. We are delighted to see how quickly Zak has settled in with us and on his new Yamaha R6. After this test I would suggest the feeling in the camp is quietly confident but we need to take every session as it comes. We still have to remember the pandemic challenges have not gone away and we have our fingers crossed we can welcome some loyal spectators to the first round in June. Racing is nothing without the spectators and we really missed them last year. We cannot wait to get going under race conditions. Fired up !”
